Transfers

Common questions about auth codes, transfer timing, domain locks, and why a transfer might get rejected.

Through your domain's Domain Lock section for a single domain, or in Bulk from Domain Manager (Advanced View).

The current (losing) registrar has up to 5 days to release the transfer once it's initiated. That's the main variable; once it's released, the rest of the process typically wraps up quickly.

Yes. NameBright's bulk transfer tool supports transferring many domains at once. For very large batches, contact support directly.

A domain gets a mandatory 60-day lock any time it's registered for the first time or transferred to a new registrar. This is an ICANN-wide rule, not something NameBright added. The lock falls off automatically after 60 days; outside that window, you can unlock the domain yourself through its Domain Lock toggle to start a transfer.

Yes, but it's a different mechanism than an external transfer. NameBright's internal Push feature moves a domain directly between two NameBright accounts using the recipient's username and email, with an accept/decline step on their end. There's no auth code and no outside registrar involved, but the same 60-day lock that applies to any newly registered or transferred domain still applies to a pushed domain.

Not currently. NameBright's domain marketplace integration runs through its sister company HugeDomains rather than through Afternic or Sedo's Fast Transfer network.

A few specific things can cause this: the transfer was declined or canceled on the losing registrar's end during the review window; the domain is involved in a legal dispute; or the losing registrar rejects it without a stated reason, in which case contact that registrar directly. It's also worth checking the basics: a domain has to have been registered at least 60 days ago, and not transferred within the last 60 days, to be eligible at all.

It depends on your Transfer Out Security setting, under My Account > Security Settings. On High, NameBright auto-rejects the outbound transfer after 4 days unless you approve it. On Low, NameBright auto-approves it on day 5 unless you reject it. Set the level that matches how closely you want to review transfers leaving your account.
