Add, Edit, and Delete a TXT Record

GUIDE-7.7 · 2 min · Updated September 2026

A TXT record holds arbitrary text tied to your domain or a subdomain. SPF is one common use, covered separately in Add, Edit, and Delete a TXT Record for SPF, but TXT records also show up for proving domain ownership to a third-party service, adding a site-verification code, or publishing any other text value a provider asks you to add to your DNS.

To add a TXT record:

  1. Log in to your NameBright account.

  2. Go to Domain Manager and select a domain.

  3. Under the DNS section, select Manage DNS Records .

  4. Select Add New DNS Record , choose TXT , and select Continue .

  5. Enter the Hostname (usually @ , or a subdomain if the provider's instructions specify one) and the exact value the provider gave you, for example a verification string like google-site-verification=abc123xyz .

  6. Set the TTL and select Add Record .

Unlike SPF, a domain can hold multiple general-purpose TXT records at once, as long as each has a distinct purpose.

To edit the record, select it, select Edit , update the value, and select Update Record . To delete it, select the record, select Delete , and confirm.

Update DNS Records in Bulk

To manage DNS records on multiple domains at once, go to Domain Manager , switch to Advanced view, and select the domains you want to edit. Once at least one is selected, the bulk action buttons above the domain table become active. Select the DNS bulk action button, then edit the setting the same way you would for a single domain. Save your changes. NameBright applies the update to every domain you selected.

Update DNS Records on a Category

To manage DNS records for every domain in a category at once, go to My Categories , select the category, open Category Settings , and enable DNS Records there, then edit the setting the same way you would for a single domain. Save your changes.
