Resolve a Rejected Transfer

GUIDE-5.8 · 1 min · Updated September 2026

A transfer can be rejected for a few specific reasons:

  • The losing registrar declined or canceled it within the review window . If you started the transfer and then changed your mind, this is that outcome.

  • The domain is involved in a legal dispute.

  • The losing registrar rejected it for reasons of its own — NameBright doesn't always get a specific reason back in this case. Contact that registrar directly to find out why.

  • The domain doesn't meet the standard eligibility window: it needs to be at least 60 days past registration and at least 60 days since its last transfer.

If your transfer was rejected, check with the losing registrar first if the reason isn't obvious. Then fix whatever's blocking it — confirm the domain is unlocked, get a fresh auth code, or wait out the 60-day window — and start the transfer request again.
